Saint Leo the Great Auction/Gala 101
History
Since its inception in 2001, the Auction is the St. Leo’s Development Committee’s fundraising effort, benefiting the school each year.
Purpose
The proceeds of the St. Leo’s Auction are donated to the school at the end of the school year. Depending on the level of success of our Gala, we have targeted three important school needs we will address. We will be giving a facelift to our school television broadcast studio, WLEO Studio. The technology of our cameras, sound board and various equipment is in need of a modern update. WLEO is used daily in the school with our morning broadcasts, shining a window on our student life. It is one of the focal points of the Saint Leo's, and this project will make it shine with spirit! The second large project we are addressing is the remaining replacement of our Activi Board projectors in each classroom. The use of technology throughout the school is very progressive and with ever changing needs we strive to keep it running smoothly and as current as possible. In addition, we will continue to enhance the beautification of our school through various projects of the Landscaping and Development Committees.
Participants
The Auction’s success depends largely on the participation of parents. A committee of 50-75 volunteers helps organize the Auction by soliciting donations, developing class projects, setting up the event, and performing countless other tasks. Invitations to the Auction are sent to parents and friends around five weeks prior to the event.
Volunteers
There are many ways parent volunteers can become involved with the Auction. They can join the committee, make a donation, or ask friends and family for donations or advertising/sponsorships. Parents should attend the event and bring their friends. If interested in helping with the Auction, parents should contact the Auction chair or a committee member.
Donations
Solicitation for items began in the fall and will continue until just prior to the Auction Gala. A website is set up for item preview of all of the items available to bid on. For donations to be seen by the widest audience, contracts must be submitted at least one month before the event.
